VHV supports legislation that would make it illegal for MTA funding collected from taxpayers and commuters to be used for anything but mass transit. The MTA Lockbox legislation continues to be opposed by New York State governors, because the MTA funding is very often used to make up deficits in other areas. The MTA continues to be underfunded and is forced to increase rates and taxes because of this misappropriation of funds.
