Sugar Loaf, N.Y. – Feb.23, 2015 – The Orange County Citizens Foundation will host two area experts to discuss regionalism versus localism on Thursday, April 30, 2015.

Wendell Cox, Principal of Wendell Cox Consultancy and Senior Fellow, Center for Opportunity Urbanism, and Dr Gerald Benjamin, Associate Vice President for Regional Engagement at SUNY New Paltz, have been invited to share their knowledge and views on the two opposing area governance policies.

The discussion will be moderated by former Orange County Executive and Citizens Foundation Board Member Lou Heimbach.

“The conflict between regionalism and localism are effecting us on daily basis.” said Orange County Citizens Foundation President Nancy Proyect. “From economic development to emergency services and transportation, our municipalities and County are dealing with a move toward regionalism. It’s important to understand the challenges, advantages, and impact to our communities.”

The discussion, sponsored by Orange County Association of Towns, Villages & Cities, Inc., will be held from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at the Seligmann Center at the Orange County Citizens Foundation. This event is free and open to the public.
