Vision Hudson Valley Announces Ottaway Medal Dinner Honoring Linda S. Muller
- Sep 13, 2021
For 26 years, Vision Hudson Valley (born the Orange County Citizens Foundation) has selected a citizen worthy of receiving the Ottaway Medal. The recognition is named in honor of Ruth and James Ottaway, who were founders of the Times-Herald Record and a national media chain, and prominent philanthropists dedicated to improving quality of life in our county. The Ottaway Medal is awarded each year to a citizen who embodies the Ottaways’ extraordinary long term community commitment and leadership.
Earlier this year, Vision Hudson Valley chose an extraordinary citizen to receive the Ottaway Medal, Linda S. Muller – President and CEO of Cornerstone Family Healthcare. She is a lifelong Orange County resident and has served at the helm of Cornerstone with a mission to ensure that every person in our community has access to quality health care. Linda is highly respected and recognized as a leader in the health care field, and has consistently remained committed to improving the health, wellness and quality of life for our region. (2021 note: Ms.Muller continues to successfully guide Cornerstone, its patients and staff through the pandemic, helping thousands of residents through testing, treatment and vaccination as well.)
Despite COVID-19 and its resulting challenges, VHV has remained focused on community revitalization, public policy, infrastructure issues, sustainable economic growth, and civic engagement. In 2020 VHV held two NYS Senate debates, co-sponsored a women’s leadership conference, helped 140 businesses apply for loans and grants to remain solvent, and was working with up-and-coming industries to increase the number of in our region.
The Ottaway Medal dinner is open to the public; ticket sales support the work of Vision Hudson Valley. 2021’s event (postponed thrice from 2020) is planned for October 6 at West Hills Country Club, in central Orange County.
