Sugar Loaf, N.Y. – August 4, 2014 – The Orange County Citizens Foundation has named long-time Warwick resident Richard Kimball the 2014 Seligmann Award recipient. Kimball will be honored with the Seligmann Award at the Citizens Foundation’s 43nd Annual Meeting & Picnic on the Seligmann Lawn Thursday, Sept. 4 at 5:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
Kimball, a well-known jazz composer and pianist, has inspired many with the beauty of his compositions, his efforts to promote public awareness of the arts, and his volunteerism throughout the Hudson Valley and the world.
“Mr. Kimball’s dedication to musical excellence and our community makes him the perfect choice for this year’s Seligmann Award,” said Orange County Citizens Foundation President Nancy Proyect. “Mr. Kimball has made a positive impact on thousands of people’s lives, from his compositions to musical instruction and encouragement, as well as his humanitarian efforts here and abroad.”
The Seligmann Award is named for the late Kurt and Arlette Seligmann, on whose former estate the Citizens Foundation makes its home. The Orange County Citizens Foundation presents the Seligmann Award on an annual basis to recognize unparalleled commitment to arts and culture in Orange County.
The 43nd Annual Meeting & Picnic on the Seligmann Lawn will feature a delicious and locally sourced BBQ dinner. Guests are also invited to explore the Seligmann grounds and facilities, onsite sculpture displays, and the Citizens Foundation’s recently completed Robert Fagan Art Library. The evening will also feature both live and silent auctions, as well as a preview of a new art exhibition Juanita Guccione: Defiant Acts. Guccione was a pioneer female artist of the 20th Century. Covering a gamut of artistic styles, she is best known for her Surrealist work.
Tickets to the 43nd Annual Meeting & Picnic on the Seligmann Lawn are $75 per person. For more information, to sponsor, or to RSVP, contact Bonnie Neucall by calling 845-469-9459 or emailing bonnie@occitizensfoundation.org by Sept. 1, 2014.
